Acupuncture treatment by the insertion of extremely fine needles into specific points on the body. These needles stimulate your body to restore balanced health. How does this work? Energy, or Qi (pronounced Chee), flows throughout your body in predictable patterns called meridians. If the Qi flow is blocked you become ill or experience pain. The acupuncture needles are inserted at designated points on acupuncture meridians which influence the balance of qi and blood flow, thereby restoring health. Modern studies have shown that acupuncture influences the central and peripheral nervous systems, releases endorphins to relieve stress and pain, affects blood sugar levels, and lowers blood pressure. It has also been shown to enhance the functions of the gastrointestinal system and endocrine system and improve circulation.
